Philip J. Shiff
Philip J. Shiff, son of Michael and Mary M. Shiff, was born in Germany, October 16, 1826. He came to America with his father’s family in 1844, and located in New York City, where in May, 1849, he married Miss Anna Mary Bauer, a native of Germany, born August 5, 1829, and who immigrated to New York City in 1844. Mr. and Mrs. Shiff settled in New York and remained a few months. In the fall of 1849 they came to Shelby County, and settled on the home farm with his father in Franklin Township. In the spring of 1858 he moved on the farm on which he now resides. They have a family of ten children, five sons and five daughters.
