John H. Smoot

John H. Smoot was born in Miami County in the year 1833; was brought by his parents, Jacob G. and Catharine Shunk Smoot, to Shelby County in the year 1839. In 1856 he married Miss Eliza J. Stone. They have three children, viz., Charles E., born 1866; John A., born 1869; and Frank L., born 1872.

The grandfather of Mr. Smoot was a Revolutionary soldier, and was at the surrender of Cornwallis at Yorktown.

The parents of Mrs. S. settled in Shelby County in the year 1831.
