John C. Linton


John C. Linton, son of James H. and Anna E. Linton, was born in Logan County, Ohio, July 12, 1851. When at the age of fourteen years, he began working in a saw-mill at Belle Centre, Logan County, for Wm. H. Young, with whom he remained several years, and has since been engaged in the manufacturing of, and dealing in all kinds of hard wood lumber, which business he has made a success. In 1874, he, in company with L. Davis, came to Shelby County and erected the steam saw-mill known as the Linton mills, which he has since been operating. The mill is located in Dinsmore Township, two miles south of Botkins. November 4, 1872, he married Miss Catharine, daughter of Michael and Mary O’Donnell, then of Franklin County, Ohio, but a native of New York State, where she was born October 25,1856. By this union he has two children, viz., Ida M. and Emma E.
