Killan Hergenrather


Killan Hergenrather was born in Germany October 15, 1829. He emigrated to America with his parents, Adam and Catherine Hergenrather, in 1842, and located in Dayton, Ohio. In 1847 he began working at the blacksmith trade in Dayton, where he continued at the business until 1851, when he came to Shelby County and located in Loramie Township, and has since been a resident of the township. He carried on the business of blacksmithing in Houston and Mt. Jefferson until in 1866, when he retired from his trade, and engaged in dealing in groceries and provisions in Mt. Jefferson, which business he has been conducting with success. He is now filling the office of trustee of Loramie Township. On the 2d of November, 1855, he married Miss Elizabeth Wolfrom, then of Cynthian Township, this county, but a native of Miami County, Ohio, where she was born in 1836, daughter of John and Margaret Wolfrom.
