William Clancey


William Clancey, deceased, was born in Kentucky on the 15th day of February, 1803. He was a cooper by trade, which occupation he followed for a number of years, and then turned his attention to farming, which business he conducted successfully until within a few years of his death,.when he retired from business. He came to Ohio, and located in Greene County, where, on the 18th day of April, 1833, he married Miss Rachel S. Steele, born July 18, 1808. They settled in Greene County, remaining four years, or until the spring of 1837, when they came to Shelby County, and settled in Franklin Township. They had one child, James W. Clancey. His wife died April 29. 1840. He married Miss Margaret McClure in 1843. She died December 5, 1861. On the 4th day of June, 1866, he married Miss Emily Strain, of Greene County, Ohio, who died December 7, 1874. In June, 1874, Mr. Clancey moved to Sidney, where he died November 12, 1877.
