On the 16th of August, 1836, he married Miss Susannah, daughter of Daniel and Susannah Woodring, then of this county, but a native of Fairfield, Ohio, where she was born December 15, 1815. Mr. and Mrs. Abbott came to Dinsmore Township in November, 1836, and settled on the farm in section 6, on which they have since resided. He has made farming his vocation, and now owns a good farm of 162 acres, on which he has conducted the business of farming with success. He reared a family of six children, viz., Catharine, Sarah A., Daniel W., Eli, Mary J., and Margaret, one of whom is now dead, viz., Mary J. His two sons, Daniel W. and Eli, served in the war of 1861.
