David Zartman

Newville. David Zartman, one of the leading druggists of Butler, has in his possession a rare relic, a musket that was used in the war of 1812. It is in good preservation and is one of the old flint-locks with shoulder strap and bayonet, all in good shape. They are very scarce in this county and no doubt if it was at the World’s Fair it would be allowed a very prominent position. This gun has been kept by his father, who was a gunsmith, having learned his trade in Germany, where a man had to be master of the trade before he could set up in business. Mr. Zartman also has a rifle made by his father that can’t be beat in the county for fine finish.
