Charles M. Smith
Charles M. Smith, Deerfield, was born in Deerfield Township, this county, September 22, 1855; son of Isaac W. and Cornelia A. (Betts) Smith. He was reared on a farm, and lived on the homestead until his marriage, July 10, 1879, with Miss Lizzie, daughter of Silas and Margaret Card. To this union has been born one child—Edward C. In 1881 our subject became associated, as a salesman, in the house of John G. Preston, with whom he is connected at the present time. He has won hosts of friends from his boyhood up, being possessed of those qualities which endear him to all who know him.
