Henry Knapp


Henry Knapp is a native of Germany, where he was born in the year 1805. He was also married in that country, March 8, 1839, to Catherine Shucky, who is a native of the Fatherland, born December 17, 1813. He is a farmer by occupation, and is located in Elizabeth township. The following are their children: Louis, born September 8, 1840; Eliza, May 15, 1842; Henry, September 15, 1845; Mary, September 22, 1848; Hannah, March 21, 1850; August, March 21, 1852; George, August 28, 1857. Louis Knapp, the oldest son of Mr. Knapp, was a soldier in the war of the rebellion; he enlisted in 1861, in company E, 5th Virginia Volunteer Infantry; he was discharged October 15, 1861. He took part in the first battle near Harrisburg, Virginia, and also in the second battle of Bull Run, where the Union army was victorious, and which seemed to give the soldiers more courage; he was injured by freezing. Mr. Knapp’s postoffice address is Powelsville, Scioto county, Ohio.
