John Young


John Young, a representative of one of the pioneer families of Washington Township, is a native of Holmes County, born in 1843. He is a son of Christian and Rosanna (Mutchler) Young, former of whom is deceased, latter now a resident of Washington Township. Mr. Young was reared in his native township to the occupation of farming, and since his father's death has superintended the work of the farm for his mother. He has been a successful man, and now owns 100 acres of valuable land. He was married, in 1865, to Barbara, daughter of Frederick Heffelfinger, and to them were born ten children: William, George, Sarah, Charles (who died in 1885), Daniel, Josephine, Solomon, Alice, Rosa, and Amanda. Mr. Young is a Democrat in politics. He is a member of the German Lutheran Church.

A brother of Mr. Young, named Jacob, was born in Washington Township in 1838. He remained on the homestead until twenty-one years old, and has throughout his life made farming his business. He now owns 120 acres of land in Ashland County, Ohio. He was married, in 1863, to Mary Siders, of Ashland County, and to them have been born eight children: Henry, Daniel, Emma, John, Edward, Albert, Mary and William. Like his brother, Jacob Young is a Democrat, and is a member of the German Lutheran Church.
