Rev. Michael Martz


REV. MICHAEL MARTZ was born in Rockingham County, Virginia, January 8, 1807. His wife was born in the same county November 1, 1808, and in that county their parents lived and died. Mr. and Mrs. Martz came to Allen County in 1836, and in 1840 he was ordained a minister of the Gospel. Mr. Martz. was one of the first Christian ministers in the county, and is now the oldest in the county. He organized the first church in Cairo, and in Vaughnsville, Putnam County. Their children are Isaac W., George W., Mary M., James A., Thomas B., Sarah C., Eliza A., B. Franklin and Silas H. (who died in the army). Mr. Martz' parents were Michael and Sarah, and their children are John, Hiram (deceased), Dorilus (deceased), Mary, Martha, Michael, Benjamin H., Napoleon B., Clara Ann (deceased), Rebecca (deceased), Erastus and Jackson. Mrs. M.'s parents were George and Mary M. Huff, whose children are John (deceased), George, Catharine (deceased), Daniel (deceased), Sarah and Jacob.
